Vampires Suck

When it comes to love movies--I enjoy the traditional boy/girl not vampire/prey. Which is why I watched the first Twilight movie but not the rest.

This movie is a comedy, though, so I may go see it:

(Yes, I have a warped sense of humor. This is a VERY MILD example.)

Jesus Camp

Today I watched "Jesus Camp."I must admit, I am appalled. The children there aren't taught to think for themselves. Instead, they are directly brainwashed. Jesus Camp even goes so far to say that evolution is wrong and Creationism is the only theory that makes sense. (!)

These poor kids are taught prejudice and brainwashed into believing "America is supposed to be God's Nation." The camp head doesn't deny it either: "You can call it brainwashing but I am radically passionate about teaching children their responsibility as Christians, as God-fearing people, as Americans if you want to take it there."
"Take these prophecies and make war with them. This means war! This means war! This means war! Are you a part of it or not?"

A young girl around 10 years old said, "I feel like we're kinda being trained to be warriors, only in a much funner way. We don't, like, I don't feel a sense of afraid to die in battle or anything like you would when you're actually going off to a war in the physical. There's a peace with it all too. There's an excitement yet peace at the same time. It's really cool!" The boy next to her adds, "You know a lot of people die for God and stuff and they're not even afraid." To top it off, the girl's father told her that when he and his fellow soldiers go to war they jump right into it shouting "Martyr, martyr!!" The girl finished off with another, "It's really cool!"

According to this film, 25% of all Americans and 75% of all home-schooled children are Evangelical Christians. It is a horrifying thought that these kind of extreme views could possibly be that widespread. I'd like to believe that this video portrays only the most fanatical sect and is not typical of what most Evangelicals believe. I could look it up, but I really don't want confirmation.

The degree to which religion with politics were zealously intermingled was shocking. "You made a covenant with God tonight that you're going to pray to end abortion in America. Don't take that lightly. Don't be a promise breaker. Don't be a promise breaker--be a history maker." Such a statement could easily be interpreted in a grand, yet dangerous, way.

Regarding George Bush's nomination of Judge Samuel Alito for Supreme Court Judge:
"What we worked on for 30 years is coming to culmination to consummation right now. And let's, let's confirm this man, Judge Alito, to the US Supreme Court and let's make one more step towards bringing America back to one nation under God. God bless you."

Ted Haggard, President of National Association of Evangelicals, speaks out: "We don't have to think about what we believe about homosexual activity--it's written in the bible." OMG!! This man was a weekly adviser to President Bush!!!
"There's a new church like this popping up every two days in America. It's gotten enough growth to essentially sway every election. If the Evangelicals vote, they determine the election. It's a fabulous life!"

The woman who runs the camp knowingly stated, "The extreme liberals, they've got to be looking at this and shaking in their boots." While I don't consider myself an extreme liberal by any means, I am terrified that this may become the new America.

stumbled across TMZ's website

...and found this Big Lebowski porn parody trailer (featuring my good friend, Roy Karch). If you liked the original movie, this will be a special treat:

TMZ primarily features star gossip, paparazzis, etc.. Since I don't watch TV and I don't read tabloids, imagine my fascination. This is much more typical of what is up there:

I am a sex addict too

Choke came out yesterday. I want to go see it.

Sex-addiction theme of ‘Choke’ holds Rockwell’s interest

Despite the tabloid headlines that surround celebrities treated for sex addiction, Sam Rockwell, who plays such an addict in “Choke,” knows the condition is far from glamorous.

“I did some research,” Rockwell said. He met a sex therapist and “went to some sex-addict meetings, anonymously most of the time,” in New York and Los Angeles.

Unlike alcoholism, “It’s more like an eating disorder because it’s emotional rather than physically addictive,” he discovered.

Rockwell was up for the demands of his role with lots of - simulated - sex. “It was tricky and it was pretty silly stuff,” he said. “Just not erotic at all.”

Known for playing quirky characters such as game-show host and alleged CIA agent Chuck Barris in “Confessions of a Dangerous Mind” and wily Charley Ford in “The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford,” Rockwell calls his character Victor “a comedic Hamlet.”

“Choke” is, he said, “kind of the comedic psychoanalysis of a Casanova. We find out what it is really like to be a Casanova instead of glamorizing it. If you meet a real ladies man, they’re usually not incredibly good-looking guys. They’re usually pretty empty inside. That’s because this kind of thing is fun for a while and then it turns into an empty pit.
