March 2010 Horoscope

Welcome to the month of enchanting Pisces! During the Sun’s stay in the sign of the 2 fish, we enter a world where dreams and spirituality are the rulers. Our emotions are more fluid, like the ocean waves and our inner feelings are better expressed through songs, poetry and art than in logical ways.

Expect to feel your emotions and tears welling up frequently. You may hear a sad story, or tell one of your own. The fish tends toward a sense of romantic melancholy and singing the ‘blues’. Using your spiritual connections and creativity are the best ways to move through these mystical waters.

The best news of the month, is the planet Mars going into direct motion on March 10th. This dynamic planet has been retrograde since Dec. 20th, 2009. The resulting roadblocks and delays have required us to be patient and review the forward motion of our lives. Questions of: Where are we going? How do we get there? Was that really where we wanted to go in the first place? Is that what you’ve been asking yourself? Mars in the sign of Leo, centered our review around self-esteem, ego-awareness, children, pets and love. Leo is determined to live a creative life, full of joy and fulfillment. As Mars goes direct, look at areas of your life that could be re-adjusted to accommodate more radiance. Is your current life-path allowing you the bliss and fun that you’d like to be having?

Our Full Moon this month is in Libra on the 29th. This moon will bring up issues surrounding our relationships. Saturn’s influence on the moon during its stay in Libra, ensures we’ll be looking at our sense of responsibility to those we care about. This will impact all partnerships, with a special focus on adult parent-child connections.

Sagittarius (Nov 22 - Dec 20)
Expect a sense of restlessness this month. You will have to work harder at being your truthful self, while not offending others. The realm of Pisces feels a little off-kilter to the Archer. People are more prone to take your honest feelings in a negative way, so just tread lightly. The energy will shift later in the month and send some positive vibrations your way. You are in a phase of life that has you testing your limits. You may feel you can conquer the world and you are out to see if that’s possible. The best advice is to relinquish any negative ego-drives, as they will only stand in your way to success.

Leo (July 23 - Aug 22)
The energetic tide is turning for you, lovely lions! Mars, the planet of direction and drive has been moving through your sign since Oct. 17th, 2009. This energy got put into backwards mode with Mars going retrograde on Dec. 20th, 2009. Now as Mars shifts into direct motion, you will feel your spirit roaring out once again! Anything you planned will be acted on and integrated into your life. You’ll feel aggressive about reaching your goals, your temper will flare more easily and communication will be blunt. Mars is in your sign through June 8th, so enjoy.

Libra (Sept 23 - Oct 22)
Love and friendship will require some care this month. After mid-month, you will be speaking more impulsively and acting in ways that surprise you! This can be upsetting, but it will give you spark and boldness in your life path. Launching a new venture is favored, but will work out better in the long-term if you have some partners to help you along the way. Favorable aspects from Mars will be with you for the next 3 months, opportunities for growth and new direction will be coming your way. Be willing to take acceptable risks.

I watched the health care hearings today

First I want to say that Barack Obama is extremely well-spoken. Even when saying something I disagree with, he makes it sound good. This is important The whole world is watching.

A man who spoke immediately after Obama (John ?) made great points. I am disappointed in myself that I didn't start taking notes until after he spoke. (sorry)

One speaker said that "under the Republican plan the people who get a break are the ones who are healthy. The people who pay more are sick." He didn't like that scenario but it makes sense to me. While I don't want to sound callous, most people get sick due to their own lifestyle and coping techniques--it makes sense they should pay more than people who take care of themselves.

Later this same speaker said "We need to hold down the cost by bringing everyone into the system." Uh, no. If health care was free for everyone then YES. Health care should already be factored into our taxes--but that's not what will pass. Instead, people will be paying even more than they do now.

About a half hour before the session was supposed to end, Obama said that if we won't want to leave people out, we have to figure out how to pay for it. We could have easily paid for health care with the money he doled out for bailouts. We bailed out NASCAR, rum, numerous banks. What about the American people? There is no money left.

I was disappointed to see Obama openly acting bored at the end while others were giving their final comments.
When any listener begins to use their hands to support their head, it is a signal that boredom may well have set in and they are holding their head up to stop them falling asleep. Often, the degree of the listener's boredom is related to the extent to which the arm and hand are supporting the head.

It usually begins with the chin being supported by the thumb and then by the fist as interest dissipates further. If the head is fully supported by the hands, this is usually the ultimate boredom signal.

At this point they had already ran 15 minutes past the scheduled time. Obama stated that he was going to give everyone who hadn't spoken yet an opportunity before he gives his final comments. While I want to keep listening, it has been a long day.....

The etch-a-sketch example was brilliant. The government needs to completely start over if its going to consider national health care. With my opinion stated, I feel I should point out that I was one of the uncovered Americans. I was not able to qualify for insurance in the US and this factored into my decision to move outside the country. The current system is flawed; yet a flawed system is better than the disastrous alternative on the table now.

Pluto Sextile Sun: Use Your Charm to Get What You Want!

On February 23, the Sun, drifting through seductive and dreamy Pisces, forms a sextile to powerfully persuasive Pluto. While the word 'sextile' may sound enticing, all it means is that Pluto will be at a 60-degree angle to the Sun, and that its intense magnetism will boost the Pisces Sun in a way that brings real results. Now is the time to use your good judgment and personal power wisely to get the maximum advantage of these favorable conditions!

Have you been wrestling with dilemmas and tensions since late December? This was probably the influence of Pluto being conjunct to (or within) the same degree as the Sun. Pluto's current activity suggests this is the time to get it all together! You are now in control ... but not in an aggressive or obvious manner. You've learned a few lessons and you will not be caught in the same way as before. Pluto is too subtle for that. Now is the time to smile sweetly, knowing you can pull all the right strings and make everyone dance to your tune. Whether it be a crisis at work or a romantic situation, you will know how to use your personal power and get things done. This special configuration of the planets gives your inner core all the strength it needs.

But how well do you know your inner core? Our Revelations Reading suggests that you are the creator of your own life. Interpret each planet in your chart on its highest and best level to determine the degree of happiness and success in your life. When you function on this level, your life takes on a richness of dimension like never before. You take the responsibility for creating your life the way you would like it to be!

You see the planets as those gifts and talents you have chosen to express in this lifetime. You fulfill your limitless potential because you see what can be, rather than what cannot. Your chart then becomes a guide, rather than the source of your happiness or unhappiness; it becomes a reflection of your own spiritual evolution. When you express who you are by being your highest and best, you lift those around you as well!

Watch where you sit

So one of the best responses to my puppy post was about the Dog Whisperer. He has a website too, which I have been reading. Most of the ideas make sense and I have been putting them in practice. However, tonight the puppy put me through a real test and I lost it. He took a crap all over the couch. When I say "all over" I mean he went a little, took a few steps, went some more, and so on to make sure he got the WHOLE COUCH!

Could I possibly be more mad? I'm not sure how but if he finds a way he may need a new home. When I brought him over to his poo, he immediately cowered. I broke down and whacked him with a rolled newspaper a few times (this is the first time I've done this). He is also locked out for the night (first time for that as well).

Under the circumstances, was there a better way for me to handle this? How do I prevent it from happening again? He knew what he was doing was wrong yet did it anyway.

This needs to be written and is way overdue.

It seems that many of my readers prefer to email me privately with their comments to my blog posts. PLEASE DO NOT DO THIS! While I appreciate feedback, it should be posted on my blog and not emailed to me. Rarely do I have time to log into my email account as it is and for it to be filled with tons of extra emails which should've been posted as comments is frustrating.

For example, from my dog advice post.... Numerous people emailed me with the same advice. Had the comments been posted publicly, it would've been clear that these were duplicate suggestions. I also received a few emails from people who were having similar problems asking me to please share whatever information I received (I don't have time to do that, btw). By posting comments, these people benefit too.

Please continue reading and sharing (just limit it exclusively to the comment box). I really do enjoy hearing your feedback. Comments make me smile and feel loved. :)

Need puppy advice

While I've had dogs before, I've never raised a puppy before. It seems I am constantly being tested and I do not know how to react. How do you train a puppy to stop being bad? (I don't want to beat my pets.)

These are things that keep happening that are NOT allowed: dog takes my shoes and puts them in the doggie bed, eats the cat food, climbs up the stairway, sits on the couch. For all of these I yell "No!" with a stern powerful voice and sometimes follow through with and outside "time out" punishment.

This morning I caught the puppy on the couch again. I made it very clear that I was upset and put him outside. After 20min or so I went to let him back in and discovered he had eaten the cushion for my backyard furniture!!! I was livid! Still upset as I write this...

Urgent: Tell the USDA What YOU Think about GMOs in Organics

The U.S. Department of Agriculture is currently considering whether or not to approve the use of genetically engineered (GE) Roundup-Ready alfalfa. Their report says you don’t care about GMOs in organics. Comments are due to them by February 16th, so read on to hear how you can help. (Or go directly to the True Food Project’s Take Action website.)

As part of the approval process, they are required to prepare an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS), a detailed analysis of how the crop will affect the environment, organic and conventional farmers, farm animals, and the public. They’ve released their EIS on GE alfalfa, and here’s how the True Food Network at The Center for Food Safety summarized the issue in a recent Action Alert:

In 2006, the Center for Food Safety (CFS) sued the Department of Agriculture (USDA) for its illegal approval of Monsanto’s genetically engineered (GE) Roundup Ready alfalfa. The federal courts sided with CFS and banned GE alfalfa until the USDA fully analyzed the impacts of the plant on the environment, farmers, and the public in a rigorous analysis known as an environmental impact statement (or EIS). USDA released its draft EIS on December 14, 2009. A 60-day comment period is now open until February 16, 2010. This is the first time the USDA has done this type of analysis for any GE crop. Therefore, the final decision will have broad implications for all GE crops.

That Environmental Impact Statement, unfortunately, contains a number of questionable statements and conclusions. The part of the EIS that worries us the most is the claim that buyers of organic foods don’t care if those products are contaminated with GMOs (genetically modified, or genetically engineered, organisms). We know that nothing could be further from the truth, and that a huge number of our shoppers care deeply about avoiding GMOs in the foods they buy. We’ve gone to great lengths to keep GMOs out of organic foods and, through our work with The Non-GMO Project, have helped advance North America’s first standards and verification program for Non-GMO foods. We are intent on preserving our ability to provide non-GMO options for our shoppers. Every newly-approved GMO crop erodes our ability to provide non-GMO food, and leads to contamination of organic and non-GMO crops, due to pollen drift and other forms of contamination.

What can YOU do?

The True Food Project has set up a Take Action website to help you easily submit your comments to the USDA. These are due by February 16th so take the time to do it now. Please use the CFS’s form letter as a guide and personalize it as you see fit – let the USDA know exactly why you’re concerned about this issue, what you think about GMOs in your food, and what you think they should do with the approval of GE alfalfa.

In our own comments to the USDA, we emphasized a few key facts:

* Organic and natural foods consumers do care about the presence of GMOs in their food. In fact, avoiding genetically engineered ingredients is one of the key reasons that shoppers seek out organic foods.
* The contamination of organic and non-GE crops by GE material has presented a huge burden for our company and our industry.
* The unchecked proliferation of GE crops will directly harm organic producers and the integrity of the organic label.
* The approval of GE alfalfa would do more harm than previously approved GE crops, since alfalfa is a wind-pollinated perennial crop.

Everyone has their own opinion about GMOs; please tell your story to the USDA via the True Food Project action campaign by February 16th. We’d love to read what you think in the comment section below, but make sure you send your comments to the USDA first!
